The association is a non-profit social association composed of members from the industry, the government and the academic fields. Our goal is to promote appropriate funeral ceremonies and culture and to straighten the funeral customs.
The association used to participate in the discussion held by the Ministry of Interior Affairs on funeral regulations (including “the license rule”).
Our opinions have helped the final completion of the regulation. The association also assists The Taipei City government’s Social Welfare Department to hold the “Life Etiquette Exhibition” and “Funeral Cultural Conference.” Our help in providing sponsorship and assistance win us a gratitude paper from the Social Welfare Department chief.
Besides the enthusiastic devotion to the above public activities, the association also emphasizes communications with other countries such as the close visit and communications with the Mainland China. The association has developed a strong friendship with funeral circles of many regions and has been welcomed and viewed highly. In the late August last year (2002), the association was in charge of arranging a visit for officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and other cities’ funeral officials to Beijing, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shanghai, to see the local funeral facilities and customs. The visit is a great success. In November, a group of members participated the “International Funeral Service Academic Research Conference & Funeral Equipment Exhibition” in Shanghai, and was also regarded highly and welcomed.
The members of the association are composed of mostly managers and workers of straight funeral companies and honored enterprises such as Lung yen, Global life, Chin Pao San, One Up International co., Zionpark, Tzeyun, etc. The association’s consultant include the highly-honored professor Hsu Fu-chuan, Dr. Yang Kaou-chu, professor Cheng Chih-ming, professor Wang Shih-feng, professor Wei Chi-kam; former Taipei and Kaoshiung city government’s funeral and mortuary services office administrators Yao Sing-huei, Pan Chih-peng and Liao Chin-te; and current Taipei City governmnet’s funeral and mortuary services office administrators. The members often help each other.
The above mentioned achievements and current situation of the association are quite remarkable. However, there are still limits and the scope of membership is not large enough. We urge determined people and revolutionist to join us and help the development of the funeral service culture.
